1 cup rice
2 tbs and half tsp oil
Sugar to taste
1/4tsp saffron or food coloring (red and yellow see the box for direction on how to make orange)
1tbs rosewater
Pistachios, almonds, and walnuts– chopped.


Rinse the rice and soak it in water for an hour.
In a pan add enough water to cover the rice by about 4 inches, boil the water first, and then add the rice. Cover and bring it to boil at medium heat (stirring frequently until the rice softens do this for about 30 mins or more).
Heat up oil and add it to the rice. add sugar and stir well.
Dissolve saffron in half a cup of hot water and add to the rice.
Reduce the heat to low and cover the lid and cook for another 45 min until the rice is well cooked and soft.
Add rose water, cardamom, pistachios, almonds and walnuts. Stir well and cover for few more minutes. Pour rice into serving bowl.
